TOGETHER WE CAN RENEW THE LIVES OF THOSE DEVAStaTED BY DISASTER

Hurricanes, floods, fires and gun violence … In an effort to transform devastation into hope, I will donate 10% of my earnings from new client engagements (through 2018) to non-profits supporting those impacted in Puerto Rico, the U.S. Virgin Islands, the Gulf Coast, Texas, Florida, Las Vegas and Northern California.

First responder efforts, immediate outpouring of support for victims of tragedy, exemplify the finest qualities of human nature. Likewise, beyond initial days of devastation, it is critical to sustain support, reassure relief organizations, people and animals they serve, the nation has not forgotten them, we understand the journey to recovery will be long and difficult.

With this in mind, below are the five organizations that will be the recipients of my consulting income through 2018. I invite you to call 415-847-3364, to discuss or contract my services. If you wish to contribute directly to these nonprofits, click on “Learn More” to access their websites. For information on additional charities, visit the Charity Navigator.

Many thanks for your generosity and support. Together we can renew the lives of those devastated by disaster.

One Nation, One Appeal

The One America Appeal is a joint appeal that was originally launched by all five living former American Presidents to encourage their fellow citizens to support recovery efforts from Hurricane Harvey — which inundated the Texas Gulf Coast with unprecedented flooding. This special appeal has been expanded to include areas most affected by Hurricanes Irma and Maria.

Donations made go to help victims of Hurricane Harvey in Texas, Hurricane Irma in Florida, and Hurricane Maria in Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands. In Texas, monies will go to the Hurricane Harvey Relief Fund focusing on the greater Houston region, and the Rebuild Texas Fund assisting communities across the state. In Florida, monies will go to the Florida Disaster Fund, which is the state’s official private fund to assist the state’s communities as they respond to and recover from destructive storms. In the Caribbean, donations will be distributed to Unidos Por Puerto Rico launched by the office of First Lady Beatriz Rosselló together with private sector coalition; and the Fund for the Virgin Islands which was established 25 years ago by the Community Foundation of the Virgin Islands for relief efforts.

Las Vegas Victims' Fund

A GoFundMe page was launched by Steve Sisolak, the Clark County Commission Chair from Las Vegas, after Stephen Paddock opened fire on a Las Vegas concert, killing at least 58 people and wounding 489.

Kenneth Feinberg and colleague Camille Biros have been asked to co-chair the Las Vegas Victims’ Fund. Feinberg represented victims of 9/11, the Orlando Pulse nightclub shooting, and the Boston Marathon Bombing.

As of October 15, the GoFundMe page has $10.56 million raised of its $15 million goal.

Supporting Napa County Fire Relief Efforts

In response to several major Napa County fires that started burning the night of October 8th and have displaced thousands of area residents thus far, Napa Valley Community Foundation  has mobilized its Disaster Relief Fund. In the days ahead, NVCF will be convening decision-makers from the nonprofit sector and local government to assess urgent needs, identify short term gaps and gather information that will inform longer-term recovery efforts.

Milo Rescue, Adoption and Sanctuary for Domestic Animals

The mission of the Milo Foundation is to rescue adoptable at-risk animals, match them to homes best suited to provide lifetime care, rehabilitate those who need... it, offer sanctuary to those who are not placed, and educate the public about responsible pet guardianship, including spay/neuter.
The 283 Acre Milo Sanctuary in Willits was founded by Director Lynne Tingle in 1994. Since then Milo has also opened an adoption center in the bay area, now located in Point Richmond.

In 23 years the non-profit has saved 28,000 animals from being euthanized in CA shelters! The Sanctuary is home to many animals who are looking for country homes as well as a temporary stop for some in need of rescue who would also thrive in more urban/bustling environments.
